As part of its ongoing support for bicycling and walking, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), has issued its annual solicitation for new bicycle and pedestrian projects. The intent of the VTrans Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is to improve access and safety for bicyclists and/or pedestrians through the planning, design and construction of infrastructure projects. Typical projects include sidewalks, shared use paths, crossing improvements and bike lanes. Last year, nearly $4 million in projects throughout the state were initiated under this grant program.

The VTrans 2017 Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Guide and Application and other supporting materials are available here. Applications must be received by 1 p.pm on Friday, July 14, 2017. Applications will be accepted for scoping studies (project feasibility), large-scale design/construction projects and small-scale, state funded, projects.

Applicants to the Bike/Ped Program are encouraged to attend one of two workshops to learn about the details of the program. The workshops will be offered in a webinar format on Tuesday May 16, from 6-8 p.m., and Thursday, May 18, from 1-3 p.m. Applicants must have an internet connection to participate and log on to https://vtrans.webex.com to participate. Multiple people can view a training, but one person must sign in online. Reservations are not required.
