The Vermont Agency of Transportation will present a workshop to discuss the selection and prioritization criteria for Vermont transportation projects and get input from stakeholders as they overhaul the process for selecting and prioritizing projects. It will take place at the VTrans Training Center (1716 U.S. Route 302 Berlin) on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Lunch will be provided.)

VTrans has contracted with Cambridge Systematics to revise project evaluation and decision-making criteria to optimize every transportation dollar and ensure that the process is closely aligned with Vermont’s vision and with new national performance goals. Transportation funding is never sufficient to implement all projects, so we want our prioritization process to be as effective as possible in the allocation of scarce funding dollars.

The current VTrans project prioritization process is more than ten years old and is sometimes cumbersome to apply. We feel this is an opportune time to revamp the process to make it more relevant and workable.

If you can't to attend, or if you feel that someone else in your organization is a more appropriate attendee, please forward this to them and have them RSVP to us (e.g., some RPC Executive Directors may prefer to send their senior transportation planner) as quickly as possible so that we can better plan meeting room and lunch details. Also, we plan to send the attendees a brief survey before the workshop, so our intention is to develop a list of attendees as soon as possible.
